The Isle Evrima Whitelist Server: Setup Step by Step

Make a private Evrima server with the whitelist, including the common mistake that makes it ignore your IDs.

A whitelist lets only the SteamIDs you list join your server. Many owners use it instead of a server password: owners of servers in Docker or other Linux containers report that ServerPassword stops working (players can't connect and nothing shows in the log), and the whitelist avoids that problem.

1. Turn the whitelist on

In Game.ini, under [/Script/TheIsle.TIGameSession]:

bServerWhitelist=true

2. Add the IDs, in the other section

The IDs go under [/Script/TheIsle.TIGameStateBase], not under TIGameSession. IDs in TIGameSession are ignored with no error.

When you add IDs over RCON, the server writes them to Game.ini itself, under a different header: [/Game/TheIsle/Core/GameModes/BP_SurvivalGameState.BP_SurvivalGameState_C]. If your file has that section, add new IDs there too, so both lists agree.

Put one ID per line, repeating the key. A comma list doesn't work:

[/Script/TheIsle.TIGameStateBase]
WhitelistIDs=76561198000000001
WhitelistIDs=76561198000000002
WhitelistIDs=76561198000000003

Use SteamID64s (17 digits, start with 7656). A vanity name or a STEAM_0:... ID doesn't work. Add your own ID and your admins' IDs first, so you don't lock yourselves out.

3. Restart

Game.ini is read at startup. After the restart, the server can take a few minutes to show up in the browser again.

Change the whitelist without a restart

With RCON on, you can edit the live whitelist with no restart:

addwhitelist 76561198000000004
removewhitelist 76561198000000004
togglewhitelist

addwhitelist takes one ID or a comma list, and it answers with the full current whitelist, so you can check the result at once. The server saves the change into Game.ini itself, so it survives a restart.

Managing a long whitelist

For a community with many members, editing the file for each new player gets old fast. In MantaScope your admins run addwhitelist from a browser with their own login, and every change is logged with who did it. Free for one server: set it up.
