The Isle Evrima Game.ini Pitfalls: A Checklist
The Game.ini mistakes that silently break an Evrima server, and how to check each one.
Evrima doesn't warn you about most config mistakes. A wrong section or a typo usually means the setting is ignored and the default is used. Check these first.
1. The right file. TheIsle/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini on Linux, WindowsServer/Game.ini on Windows. The server creates it on the first start; editing a copy somewhere else does nothing.
2. The right section. Server settings (name, password, RCON, AI, growth) go under [/Script/TheIsle.TIGameSession]. Lists (AdminsSteamIDs, WhitelistIDs, VIPs, AllowedClasses) go under [/Script/TheIsle.TIGameStateBase]; a list under TIGameSession is ignored. Don't delete the [/Game/TheIsle/Core/GameModes/BP_SurvivalGameState.BP_SurvivalGameState_C] section: the server writes RCON whitelist changes there.
3. One value per line for lists. Repeat the key: AdminsSteamIDs=7656... on one line, the next ID on the next line. Comma lists don't work.
4. SteamID64 only. Admin, whitelist and VIP entries need the 17-digit ID that starts with 7656.
5. Restart after every change. That includes the server name: the new ServerName shows only after a restart, and the server list can take a few minutes to refresh.
6. Ports. Game 7777 UDP, queue 10000 TCP (if bQueueEnabled=true), RCON 8888 TCP (if bRconEnabled=true). For a second server on the same machine, give each port a new number.
7. RCON on, but tools can't connect. Evrima RCON isn't Source RCON. Check bRconEnabled=true, the port is open, and use an Evrima RCON client.
8. The password doesn't work. In containers, owners report that ServerPassword fails with no log entry. Use the whitelist instead (see our whitelist guide).
9. Engine.ini. The [EpicOnlineServices] client ID and secret must stay as shipped. If you delete or change them, the server won't start or won't list.
10. Check it worked. After a restart, look at your server on MantaScope: name, player count and map update every few minutes, so you can see at once if the new ServerName or MaxPlayerCount is live. If you claim the server, you also get alerts when it goes offline.
Common question: I added my admin IDs and nothing happened.
AdminsSteamIDs belongs under [/Script/TheIsle.TIGameStateBase], one ID per line, as a 17-digit SteamID64. In TIGameSession it's ignored with no error. Paste your Game.ini into the Game.ini checker to see the mistake.
