GTA 6 comes out on November 19, and GTA V roleplay keeps getting busier. On FiveM servers, an average September weekend drew about 114,000 players at once, up from about 103,000 in August. Weekdays grew less, from about 95,500 to 99,000. We track public FiveM servers around the clock, so these are people actually playing on servers.

We don't expect GTA 6 to change that quickly. It launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and Rockstar hasn't announced a PC version or any online or roleplay mode. FiveM roleplay happens on PC. When GTA V came out in 2013, the PC version followed about a year and a half later. Big roleplay servers are also years of work, and a community doesn't move all of that to a new game the week it comes out. That's our read of it, so we'll check the numbers again on launch day.

One more number shows how much of GTA V's life now sits in roleplay. Counting only people who start FiveM through its Steam page, FiveM averaged about 123,000 players online at once over the last three days. GTA V's own Steam page averaged about 42,000. Both figures leave out the Rockstar and Epic launchers and FiveM's own client, so it's a rough comparison, but the gap is large.

Rockstar has noticed. It bought Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, in 2023, and in September it introduced nopixel V, a GTA V roleplay project, on its own news page.

GTA 6's own news didn't move our numbers. Rockstar released An Extended Look, its longest video of the game so far, on the evening of August 27 (US time). The next day FiveM servers averaged 94,858 players, the same as any other August Friday.

If you missed it, here's Trailer 2 from May 2025:

If you want to try roleplay before November, two things help. "Whitelist" servers make you apply first and usually expect serious roleplay, while public servers let you join right away. And check how busy a server is at the hours you'll actually play: every MantaScope server page shows its player history and peak times, so you can see whether it's full during your evening or only in someone else's.

You can browse the FiveM server list, follow the FiveM player count, or try Wild West roleplay on RedM servers.
